- Fishing hours shall be from 5:00am to 5:00pm on June 1 and 5:00am to 4:00pm on June 2. There shall be no night fishing and fish caught outside of the stated hours shall be ineligible for the competition. Fish shall be presented for weighing and registration between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm Saturday, and 8:00am to 4:00pm Sunday. Awards Ceremony to follow at 5:00pm Sunday at Sawmill Restaurant/Field’s Construction, Inc., Woodville, NY.
- Failure to comply with any of the Rules and Regulations of the 2024 Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby will result in automatic disqualification and forfeiture of all prizes and recognition.
- Each participant agrees that the decision of the Derby Officials will be final and is not subject to review in any forum. Winners not present will be contacted.
- Unless exempted by law, each participant must present a valid 2024 New York State Fishing license.
- All persons participating in the 2024 Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby MUST BE OFFICIALLY PRE-REGISTERED BY MAY 31, 2024. All persons aboard a vessel participating in the Derby must be pre-registered, as set forth herein, and no vessel participating in the Derby may have unregistered persons aboard during the fishing hours set forth in paragraph 1 above. ALL PERSONS MUST PRESENT ENTRY STUB OR EMAIL CONFIRMATION AT WEIGH STATION.
- Each participant is entitled to only one (1) prize. Contestants may enter more than one fish, but only the largest entered by any one contestant will be considered, and any smaller fish submitted by the same person will be considered with-drawn. AGAIN, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ENTRY STUB.
- Any person entering a fish in the 2024 Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby may, at the discretion of the Derby officials, be required to submit to a polygraph test.
- Only Brown, Rainbow, and Lake Trout caught by hook and line in a legal manner, under the Laws of the State of New York, from the waters of Canandaigua Lake, are eligible for this contest. Shore fishing is permitted.
- In order to be considered, any fish must be entered on the day of the contest on which it was caught, at one of the official weigh stations: NORTH END – CANANDAIGUA COUNTRY CLUB, CANANDAIGUA; SOUTH END – SAWMILL RESTAURANT/FIELD’S CONSTRUCTION, INC., WOODVILLE.
- No fish will be considered which, in the opinion of the Derby Official, shows the effect of having been gaffed, gutted, or snagged. Winners will be determined by the weight of the fish only, EXCEPT WHERE THERE IS A TIE. (See Rule #13) Any fish containing any foreign materials will be disqualified and persons submitting such a fish for consideration will also be disqualified from participation in the contest. Fish will be examined for gillnet marks, bleached gills, hook and/or gaff marks, fin rot or fungus, and the presence of any of these will disqualify the fish and persons submitting it. You may register for drawings without entering a trout.
- All fish in contention, as determined in the sole discretion of the Derby Officials, are the property of the Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby until 5:00pm June 4th at which time they will be returned to the person submitting such fish for consideration. Any fish not picked up by 5:00pm on June 2nd, 2024 may be disposed of as seen fit by the Derby Officials. In any event, neither the Derby Officials nor any of its sponsors shall be responsible for damage to any fish submitted to the Derby without regard to cause.
- Any fish submitted for prize consideration shall be subject to both internal and external examination including, but not limited to, temperature probes.
- Decisions of the Derby Officials are final. In the event of a tie, in any weight of trout entered, the prize for that entry will be split equally between said contestants. This system will be followed in all prize categories.
- Any protest concerning any aspect of the Derby shall be submitted to a Derby Official within one-half hour after the close of the weighing station on the day the grounds for the protest arise. In the event of a protest made in a timely manner, the Derby Officials’ decision will be final.
- All participants in the 2024 Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby agree to hold the Derby Officials, sponsors, and their agents, servants, and/or employees harmless from any liability of any nature and kind for any injuries and/or damages suffered by the entrant while participating in the Derby. All photographs remain property of the Derby Committee.
- There shall be only one category for which prizes are awarded. All awards shall be based solely on weight and without regards to the species of trout submitted, except that only Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and/or Lake Trout shall be eligible for consideration.
- No Derby entry will be accepted after 10pm on Friday, May 31, 2024.
